The University of Newcastle, Australia, is recruiting a new 2-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position (Job no: NXJ69) for research into bathymetry from satellite altimetry. The work will develop computationally efficient techniques for constructing the marine gravity field and bathymetric model and estimating their uncertainties by using data from the new generation SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) and multi-satellite altimeter missions.
Criteria for candidates:
A PhD in Geodesy or Geophysics or closely related fields.
Advanced conceptual and numerical modelling skills in construction of marine gravity field and bathymetric models using satellite altimetry data.
Knowledge and ability in developing algorithms and software codes.
An understanding of satellite altimetry and its geodetic applications.
Demonstrated recent experience in writing scientific articles.
The ability to build positive relationships with University academic and professional staff.
